Fertility Preservation Service

The Women’s Fertility Preservation Service provides medical fertility assessment, advice, and preservation options for Victorian/Interstate patients whose fertility may be affected by a medical or surgical condition or its treatment.

Our referral process is designed to support timely access to fertility services within existing clinical workflows.

Medicare Requirements

Egg/embryo preservation:

  • The patient must be a Victorian resident and hold a Medicare card.
  • Only the oocyte-providing patient requires Medicare eligibility (a sperm-providing partner does not require Medicare).

Testicular or semen preservation:

  • The patient must be a Victorian resident
  • Medicare not required.
  • Medicare-ineligible patients will incur fees. Please contact the service for details.
